Introducing Maddie!

When John + Lindsey started Motion Picture Co in early 2010 and I joined in on the fun (I had already been working for Bamber Photography at that point), we never dreamed it would turn into the thriving artistic business it is today! We have grown so much – as a company, as people, and as photographers.

It is with this growth in mind – with new clients, new weddings, and new opportunities always in front of us – that we have hired another lead photographer, Maddie! She has been shooting for several years now – in fact, she encouraged me to invest in my first camera (we’re talking high school here, people!). It has been a blast having Maddie along for many shoots in the recent months, and I am excited that we’ll be shooting most of our summer weddings together.

Two Weeks Away | personal

For the past three years, I have watched so many of your journeys from newly engaged to blushing bride to settled newlywed. Your weddings have inspired me – in their creative and personal touches (Kevin + Kelly), meaningful ceremonies (Barry + Casey), laidback simplicity and authentic love (Carter + Stephanie), and ridiculously fun parties (Eric + Tara). For the past several months, the incredible couples I meet through my job have been a huge inspiration as I have planned my wedding with my fiance, Luke. I am so thankful for your emails of congratulation, meetings that turn into sharing wedding planning stories over Starbucks, and a deeper understanding of what y’all are feeling now that I am there too!

It is a huge honor to be able to share in so many of your journeys as you enter your special day – it is hard to believe that mine is so close! Tomorrow marks one week from my wedding, so please forgive me if emails aren’t answered as quickly as usual or my phone is turned off during my honeymoon! Lindsey will be checking all of the Motion Picture Co emails while I’m away, so don’t hesitate to share what is going on in your wedding journey! I’m excited to watch all of you get married this summer, and photograph it to boot!

David + Valerie | married sneak peek

This weekend Maddie & I had the privilege of shooting David + Valerie’s wedding downtown! As soon as we arrived Valerie was ready to get her dress on! David + Valerie were surrounded by friends and family who supported them, toasted to them, and raved about them. After the ceremony overlooking the river, everyone ate and danced the night away. Typically our couples leave for their honeymoon before I write this post, but David + Valerie have postponed their honeymoon since they are closing on a house at the end of the month! What an exciting time for them! Enjoy this sneak peek of their day!

Valerie’s beautiful dress was from Monica’s, Goetz catering provided the delicious food (including pecan-crusted chicken, now a new favorite), Grafe Studios provided the gorgeous flower arrangements, and the Zan Guerry Clubhouse at Manker Patten hosted us all!

Jessi + Josh | engaged

This weekend Maddie & I met up with Jessi + Josh at their wedding venue, the rustic Barn at High Point Farms for their engagement session! The barn has so many quaint touches, we had a blast just exploring it! Jessi + Josh have been together a while now and you can tell their love is very understanding and natural – even if Jessi claims to not be lovey-dovey!

We hope you love your images, guys! See you in June!

Catherine + Jimmy | engaged

Catherine + Jimmy are some of the most FUN clients I have ever had! Jimmy was such a riot throughout the session, coming with poses such as dangling from a tree, doing headstands, or “pulling” Catherine in a red wagon… he was very invested in his poses. Catherine is funny and laidback, exactly the kind of girl that can put up with – I mean, enjoy – a guy like Jimmy! Catherine + Jimmy both grew up on Lookout Mountain, so it made sense to start at Point Park (which they both have visited since childhood) and end at Catherine’s father’s farm a few miles away where they’ll be hosting their wedding reception in June!

Enjoy your photos, can’t wait to see you two again and celebrate your marriage!!

Rebecca + Eric | engaged

Last Sunday was such a beautiful day! I absolutely love this time of year, and what better way to spend such a day than to have a great engagement session? I met up with Rebecca and Eric, one of our May couples. We started out at their home in Chattanooga and then hopped over to Signal Point Park on Signal Mountain to catch some of the gorgeous scenery!

Rebecca and Eric are both engineers and love what they do, they obviously fell in love with one another and will be married on May 5^th at the Manker Patten Tennis Club. I can’t wait to share in their special day with them! Hope everyone enjoys the images, here are a few from their session.

Codi + Josh | engaged

Codi + Josh are living proof that you might want to check exactly how many fridges your picture has found its way to – Josh saw Codi’s picture on a friend’s fridge, tracked her down on Facebook, and asked her out! This is a guy who definitely knows what he wants! (Isn’t that an interesting way to meet a significant other… refrigerator advertising!)

Codi + Josh are currently long-distance as they are both finishing up school. You can tell they love every moment they are together, and I’m so excited that in just two months they’ll never be long-distance again! Congrats, Codi + Josh! See you in May!

Valerie + David | engaged

Valerie + David are getting married in less than a month! Yowza! You can tell these two are totally best friends (who met at college in a nearby state and then moved to Chattanooga). They have a lot of exciting things ahead of them – they’re even postponing their honeymoon to close on their first HOUSE together! They tried to point it out to me while frolicking on Renaissance Park’s famous hills, but some pesky mountains got in the way.

I love that these two showed up in their rainjackets and Chacos (it was raining a bit, after all… and I have a deep brand loyalty to Chacos) for their session! I had to get some adorable pictures of them before they got “fancier” for their session… as Valerie said, “This is really us!”

Congrats, Valerie + David! See you in a MONTH!

Jody + Kelsey | married

Maddie and I had an amazing time photographing Jordan and Kelsey’s wedding in downtown Chattanooga. When it comes to weddings, in general, there’s no shortage of hard work for just about everyone involved, but these guys had a blast with it and really made it a special day. The wedding consisted of a traditional Catholic mass ceremony at Sts. Peter and Paul, after which we relocated to the Hunter Art Museum for the reception! The whole day was just fantastic, as I’m sure you can see from the photos, and I’m so glad I got to be there! It’s definitely worth mentioning how great the food was!! I had lamb for the first time, and well, now I’m a big fan…

Thanks to the couple for having us out to share in your special day! You guys were a ton of fun to be around and a breeze to work with! We hope you love your photos as much as we do.

Kate + John | engaged

This past week Molly & I had the pleasure of traveling to Savannah, Georgia – just a day before the famed St. Patrick’s Day festivities! – to photograph one of our May couples, Kate + John!

I hadn’t been able to meet Kate + John yet, so it was so fun to connect with them after spending time through emails and the phone with Kate! They are college sweethearts who, after being long-distance for the majority of their relationship (including John’s deployment), are finally in the same city! You can tell that they are soaking up every minute.

Kate + John, thanks so much for being such wonderful hosts and tour guides as we visited Savannah! We are so excited about your Chattanooga wedding this May!
